GENERAL FAQS
How far in advance should I schedule my appointment?
I recommend booking 2 weeks in advance for weekday appointments and 4-6 weeks in advance for Saturday appointments.
When will I be able to view my proofs?
We will schedule your premiere session at the time of your appointment, typically 7-10 days after your session or you may use an online proofing website.
How many poses will I get to pick from?
There isn't really a set number since my photography sessions are not “cookie cutter“. Each photo shoot is tailored to each individual person, the clothes they have, the props they brought with them, etc. If I see something I like, or if I have an idea, I may spend more time on it.
Typically I'll show 30 poses during a client presentation, but often it is up to 50. Basically, it all just depends on your outfits, props, attitude, personality, energy, etc.
How long does it take to receive my order?
Prints will be ready for pick up 3-4 weeks after the order is placed. Gallery wrapped canvas takes 4-5 weeks. Custom ordered portrait boxes and albums take 6 weeks.
Do you print your own photos?
No. Unlike some photographers that may print their own pictures using a color printer or the local warehouse club one-hour photo kiosk, I send all of my images to a highly skilled, professional photographic lab for processing. Just like high-end wedding photos, my prints are made using the highest quality professional photographic paper, developed using traditional darkroom chemistry. The lab then mounts each photo to a thick backing board and sprays it with a protective satin coating so it is ready for framing. This provides the quality and true archival life that you should demand for any professional portrait.
Can you airbrush scars or blemishes?
I provide free retouching on all images. I'm happy to alter your images as little or much as you would like (i.e. touching up cellulite, veins, wrinkles, etc).
When should I schedule my newborn's first appointment?
The sweetest and most precious newborn photos are of curling, sleeping newborns. During the first two weeks after your baby's birth, they will usually retain some of the natural curl from before they were born. Newly born babies are also usually more sleepy and pliable for the most desired poses. For these reasons, please call to book your newborn session as early as possible.
MATERNITY FAQS
I'm interested in maternity portraits. When is the best time to have these done?
I prefer women to be 35-37 weeks.
What should I wear?
Tops should be very form fitting.
If you are comfortable showing skin, you'll want something to cover your breasts but still expose the belly. The half cardigans or shirts are great.
Limit jewelry to essential pieces, too much jewelry will be distracting.
Jeans left unbuttoned or black under the belly pants are great.
What should my husband/boyfriend wear?
Bring black slacks and jeans and shirts in the same color family as yours. Remember his hands will show, so a man-manicure might be necessary.
I notice many of your gallery images have women in drapes, do you provide those?
Yes, I have several drapes available in: plum, silver, cream, black and copper.
BOUDOIR FAQS
What is a typical boudoir portrait?
There really is no such thing as a typical boudoir portrait. Boudoir images are whatever you would like them to be. Since everyone wants something a little different, boudoir images vary greatly from person to person.
While some women elect to be nude for some portion of their portrait session, it is also common for women to be fully clothed throughout the session. What matters most is that you feel comfortable in whatever poses you chose.
Whether you are looking for an elegant romantic image or want to raise the temperature significantly, I can help you achieve the results you desire.
If you plan to include any nudity in your portraits (or if you will be nude for any portion of your portrait session), then I will require proof that you are over the age of 18.
When should I consider boudoir images?
The time to consider a boudoir portrait series is right now. Although we all hope to age gracefully, the unfortunate truth is that we will never look better than we do right now. Now is the time to take that romantic or provocative image to capture you at your absolute best.
Who will be present?
The only people who will know about the portrait session are you, the photographer, and anyone else you may have told. I never tell anyone else. If you would feel comfortable having another person present, then by all means ask them along. It is important that you feel completely relaxed and safe during the photo session. I ask that you consider the amount of space available for the photo session and ensure there is enough room for you, your guests, any props or furnishing that will appear in the photos, the photographer, and the photo equipment.
What is a Portrait Party?
An alternate idea you might consider is a "Girls Night Out"; where you plan a party around a boudoir photography theme. Wine and hors d orderves will be served as each of you take turns with the photographer. Four or more guests are required.
What should I wear?
What you want to convey in your boudoir portraits will largely dictate what you will wear and how you will dress. If you will have bare skin photographed, then you should wear loose fitting clothing (avoiding anything with elastic or wires) around any portion of your body that will be shown to the camera. To get that silky skin look, wear loose fitting clothing prior to your boudoir portrait session.
During the portrait session you may wear one or more different outfits. Here is a list of some clothing, accessory items, and ideas you might consider: A mini skirt, a uniform, lingerie (thongs, panties and bra set), an off the shoulder top, an open front blouse, something transparent, anything fishnet, western hat and boots, his construction tools and belt, hats and gloves, high heels, flower petals, his favorite shirt and thigh high stockings.
The goal in selecting what to wear is to convey a sense of romance, sensuality, playfulness, love, and affection.
What about hair and makeup?
Since you want to look your absolute best you should either plan some significant time to do your hair and makeup, or have it done professionally. I have an independent make up artist available for your session. She is available before your session and during your session for touchups and if you would like a different look. Since she is independent, please inform me asap that you would like to schedule her services so I can verify her availability.
