Baby's First Year


Newborn - During this session, I like to capture relationship photos with Mom and Dad. I tend to use Dad's larger, rougher hands. I prefer to photograph within the first 72 hours of Baby's birth and arrangements can be made for a hospital, home or studio sesion.

3 or 4 months - Hats are fun for this session. I usually use baskets and Mom or Dad's shoulder to prop Baby in a more upright position. I don't suggest dresses or shirts with collars at this session as they tend to bunch up around Baby's chin.

6 months - Baby should be strong enough to sit unsupported. I like to take some with just a diaper cover (or nothing) to showcase the rolls and really focus on Baby's emerging personality and expressions. This is a Milestone session.

8-9 months - Some babies are pulling up at this age, so cute shoes are great with this milestone. I love using Mom or Dad legs as props at this age, so be sure to schedule that pedicure! If Baby is crawling, I tend to bribe him with Cheerios or Goldfish to keep his attention in one area. This is the last session where I incorporate photographing your baby nude.

12 months - This is the cake smash session! After some relationship photos with Mom and Dad, we will strip the baby down to jeans of just a diaper, give them the cake, and just let whatever happens happen. Sometimes there is cake in a 10 foot diameter around Baby, sometimes the only thing messy is Baby's pointer finger.
