Clothing
For Newborns and Babies:
Bare skin is my favorite. You may have other clothes, but keep in mind that baby may get grouchy if there are too many clothing changes.
For Children:
Consider dressing in the color white sparingly, for this color often reflects
light strongly. If children are being photographed together, clothes that are similar in style give a more coordinated look. Bare feet are especially fun, and kids love it too.
I suggest bringing a few outfits that you are considering and allowing me to help you make the final choice on what would best suit the look and feel you are going for in your child's portraits.
I also have on hand a few items such as dresses and tutus that you are welcome to incorporate into the session.
For Families:
Family photographs are special, a legacy of whom your family was for future generations to enjoy.
Clothing choices are just as important for family sessions, as other sessions.
I highly suggest clothing for each family member that has the same tone, not necessarily color.
Please be wary of stripes, plaid, words and logos on your family's clothing. These things can be a
distraction from your beautiful family. Bare feet are great for family sessions too!
In conclusion some basic do's and don'ts:
Do's
Do wear solid colored clothing!
Do wear long sleeves as it eliminates distractions and places emphasis on the subject's face.
Do wear classic styles of clothing (jeans or khakis) AND feel free to bring a
change of clothes if you'd like to do something fun.
Do have all subjects wear similar styles in the same color family when two or more people are photographed together.
Do remember to bring hats and/or bows!
Don'ts
Don't wear bright red or orange as it battles the subject's face for attention.
Don't wear shirts with patterns or logos.
Don't date your portrait with a trendy fashion UNLESS you remember to bring an
classic outfit as well.
