Special Services

As a mother of an autistic daughter, I understand how difficult or impossible it seems to get professional photographs of your child. I understand how important it is for a special needs child to be in his or her own element in order to feel comfortable.

The photo on the right is my daughter's 6 year portrait. To accomplish this simple photo, I had to sit her in a swivel barstool by the window in our dining room, spin the chair, count to 5, show her my belly button and THEN snap the shutter. I got eye contact and an almost happy expression...horray!

When she was a toddler, going to the studio was a complete nightmare. The busy waiting room, the other people waiting, the itchy clothes... my daughter was usually on the edge of hysteria even before it was our turn. Then the photographer would become irritated because Shelby wouldn't look in the direction of the camera and would just snap a few pictures to get us out of there. I'd usually be in hives and not even care if we got any good pictures by then.

No one should ever have to feel like that. I will listen to you with my heart and do everything in my power to capture an image you'll treasure.

My services are offered free of charge for families with disabled or terminally ill children. I will be happy to travel on location to meet your child's needs.
